Let us look only to Jesus, the One who began our faith and who makes it perfect. He suffered death on the cross.
Hebrews 12:2
Yesterday evening I spent time with my church family as we shared our week and had fellowship together albeit in our new accustomed Zoom meeting.
There is a wonderful verse in the Bible concerning fellowship together:
Then they that feared the Lord spake often one to another: and the Lord hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the Lord, and that thought upon his name.
Malachi 3:16
Two things we are told from this:
1. People like-minded being together
2.Talking about God, thinking about His name.
Not only did we fulfil that verse, but we were also so reminded last night to keep looking up and thinking about His grace which has been given to us.
Why was the meeting so positive, so encouraging? Dare I suggest it has to do with the opening words. Let us look only to Jesus, the second person that is used in relation to Trinity.
Why look unto Jesus?
- He is the one who came from God the Father to show us the way back to God the Father. That came through a cross in which every human being’s wrongdoings were given to Him. We have all lied, all taken something we should not have, all had improper thoughts and so I could on. Suffice to say we were out of a relationship with a righteous God, but Jesus changed all that.
- We are told Jesus has gone back to God the Father and if we want to He can take us there too. I pray to a resurrected Jesus, one who is ALIVE. Jesus can intercede on my behalf because He is at the Father’s right hand or put it another way where the Father is that is where Jesus is.
- He is able to understand these difficult times for I am told Jesus also suffered. You see my Jesus knows all about pain, sadness, joy, emotions that we as humans encounter every day. When I pray to Jesus I know it is someone who fully appreciates my situation (because He has been there) and now He is in heaven Jesus can do something about it.
Finally, last night we were asked to change the saying difficult times to different times.
Indeed they are different times from what I have experienced, but I am reminded that in these different times I pray to a God who is able to help me in these different times. Therefore today I will look only unto Jesus!!! How Great is MY God.
