We continue on our journey on what is a superhero.
Since my fictional hero is Superman I want to compare him to what I believe is my real and personal hero Jesus Christ. With that in mind, yesterday I started the comparisons and today would like to finish the comparisons.
A lot of comparisons yesterday were in relation to a Father. So let us pick up again that relationship.
When Mary and Joseph (earthly parents) realised Jesus was not with them they freaked out. When they found Jesus, He was with various religious people. Jesus simply responded to His parents, “I must be about my Father’s business.” This very close relationship with a father not living on earth was paramount in Jesus life and so it was with superman.
Superman was always talked to by his “father.” (His father was not on earth). When he is in the fortress, His father communicates with Superman by a loud and commanding voice coming from the Fortress itself. He also always calls Superman “His Son.” These two facts are also the way God the Father sees Jesus.
We see various times in the Bible that Jesus is spoken to, by the Father. When Jesus is baptised, God the Father says, “This is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased.”
When Jesus is on the mountain and transfigures Himself, we hear God again saying, This is my Son, listen to Him.” We never actually see God, but His presence is definitely there. All we hear about is this loud and commanding voice from above.
Superman’s father also said this “Even though you’ve been raised as a human being you are not one of them…They can be a great people if they wish to be. They only lack the light to show the way. For this reason above all, I have sent them you, my only son.”
This is interesting because Jesus Christ says of himself, “I am the way, the truth, and the light…” We see the Father’s compassion for you and me his “earthly” creatures. God sent Jesus, His only son.”
At the same time, Jesus was with us but wasn’t from us. He was from heaven, from the Father. We must remember Christmas is most unique in that it centres around a natural and yet supernatural event involving an awaited person. This was the Jewish hero they were awaiting, but they missed him for all sorts of different reasons.
Please do some investigation yourself on Jesus. Don’t miss Him by your own opinions without taking time out to see for yourself that His message was true…Jesus Christ says of himself, “I am the way, the truth, and the light
Neither Superman nor any other person in real life or fiction can take away our sins, and give life eternal. Only Jesus can. He is the true Saviour of the world and that is why my message to you is so important.
Have you trusted Christ as your Saviour? The Bible teaches that if you place your faith and trust in Christ in repentance, God will forgive you for your sins. Trust in the real Saviour. Place your faith in a true Superman today.
