That you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God

Colossians 1:10-12 NKJV

As we come to our climax of acting out what you believe and there is no better reason than the above statement. In case you are not sure what I mean it is simply this; fully pleasing Him. Surely this is the reason we want to ACT out our belief?

Pleasing God, we are told, makes us fruitful. Now everyone wants that! Jesus himself wants us to be fruitful and gave us a tip on fulfilling this:

I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.

John 15:5

Let us remind ourselves again, our obligation, to ensure we are fruitful. Paul said this to some people which is good advice. “We pray that you’ll live well for the Master, making him proud of you as you work hard in his orchard. As you learn more and more how God works, you will learn how to do your work”. (MSG)

I don’t know about you, but someone being proud of you has a ring of satisfaction. I can remember my graduation day and the immense joy of receiving that certificate as well as the satisfaction of all the hard work put in during the three years studying at Reading University.

The above statement informed us to walk worthy. So let us finish by looking at these words.

  • The word “walk” (peripatesai) means that we set our lives-our behaviour and conduct-after Christ.
  • The word “worthy” (axios) means to have the weight of, or to weigh as much as something else (Christ on this occasion)

What I gather from the explanation of these two words is my walk is to weigh as much as the walk of Christ who I follow. In other words, my conduct should be the same as the conduct of Christ. (Phew might you say, I agree) Try ACTING that out, but yes that is what we are called to do, Act out Christ’s conduct in our daily lives.

We are informed in Ephesians 2:10: “we are His masterpiece, created in Christ Jesus for good works.” This is our destiny. We are called to live extraordinary lives in the Kingdom!

Jesus reminded His disciples “In the same way, you should be a light for other people. Live so that they will see the good things you do and will praise your Father in heaven. (Matthew 5:16). When we ACT that out we will truly be fruitful.

Feel it is impossible. Let me encourage you by reminding you of the secret of ACTING out what we believe, it is the words of Jesus Himself. ABIDE IN ME!!
