Do you believe this? (John 11:25-26)

Jesus always makes things personal. He said to His disciples as we found out yesterday “But what about you who do you say I am?”

The one thing I hope you are receiving this week is that Jesus is very much personal. Jesus is very much desiring not only to communicate but participate.

How far do you want to have Jesus participating in your life? It is your call. Jesus for His part gave an invitation in the very last book of the Bible when He said  …

“Look at me. I stand at the door. I knock. If you hear me call and open the door, I’ll come right in and sit down to supper with you.” Revelation 3:20 The Message.

We have a door bell which for some reason has a tendency to make its own mind up if it is going to work. So often when people ring the bell it does not work and therefore I do not go to the door and can miss the caller.

Jesus is calling, are you receiving? Today we look at how Jesus asked a question while attending a funeral. Jesus had often called into a house in Bethany to have a meal and stay with His friends. How glad they were when Jesus came to have supper with them. Just like the verse in Revelation 3:20 they gladly received Jesus.

Sadly one day Jesus friend died and we read in the Bible Jesus wept. Jesus was broken when He saw what sin has done to the human race. This sin eventually kills all of us. Sadly it is part of our DNA we  inherited from Adam and Eve (yes I believe all humans came from these two people)

Jesus went to visit the sisters of his friend and Martha, one of the sisters, shows her faith in Jesus, Martha says if only you had been here you could have done something about my brother’s sickness but I still believe even now, I know that whatever you ask God he will give you.”

Is that your kind of faith in Jesus? He can do anything.

Jesus replied its ok Lazarus (Jesus dead friend) will rise again, Martha immediately says yes I know that he will be raised up in the resurrection at the end of time.

Now the God question …

You don’t have to wait for the End. I am, right now, Resurrection and Life. The one who believes in me, even though he or she dies, will live. And everyone who lives believing in me does not ultimately die at all. Do you believe this?”

With that a stone was rolled away from the entrance into the tomb, not for someone to come in but for someone to come out. At Jesus command the dead man walked. Faith  in Jesus had been rewarded.

So let me end with the same question Jesus asked those two sisters Do you believe this? Believe what? That Jesus Christ died for you to remove your sin and God raised Jesus from the dead three days later and today Jesus is in heaven awaiting the day when all who have put their faith in Jesus, who today are in a graveyard, will rise from the dead.  I hope you do, and if still unsure please take time out to further investigate the claim of Jesus.

You don’t have to wait for the End. I am, right now, Resurrection and Life. The one who believes in me, even though he or she dies, will live. And everyone who lives believing in me does not ultimately die at all.

Do you believe this?”

Stay safe be blessed
