Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.

John  14:27 (ESV)

One of my favourite Beatles tracks is ‘Let It Be’, where we find these words: “And when the broken hearted people, living in the world agree, there will be an answer, let it be”.

Well I believe the answer is in this verse. Jesus is about to die and therefore informs his followers of that fact. Yet his underlying theme to them was it is not as bad as you think. Yes I will die, but I will live again. When Jesus died His followers hid in a room with fear. One day though Jesus appeared in that room and simply said Peace. The atmosphere of that room changed immediately and rejoicing replaced sorrow. Jesus was the reason, not their circumstances that made the difference. Jesus is still doing that today, He makes the difference.

Therefore in these difficult times you can draw peace from that fact. Jesus is saying the same to you, there is a peace not giver by humans, but from a risen divine Jesus.
