Isn’t it exciting to know all the various ways there are to praise God? Whichever one you choose, I pray that you will do it daily and that you will find His presence and power more real each time you worship.

What about the content of our prayers? Is there somewhere to help us, as we seek to praise Him, on what we actually should be praising Him for?

Well, let’s go back to Psalm 33 and see that the writer gives us three ways to praise God. They are in verses 4-19:

  1. Greatness
  2. Goodness
  3. Governmental reign

God’s Greatness (verses 4-9)

God spoke into existence all created things. Vegetation, animal life, and man were all created by God’s word. What tremendous power there is in His Word! I don’t know how He did it, but I do know that God did it, and that is the important thing. God said the greatest of all He created was you and me. He says “we are distinctive”.

The same God whose mind and power fashioned the stars, the seas, the animals, and all other human beings has carefully, intentionally, and individually crafted you. You are a distinctive person.

  • Our distinctiveness can be seen in our face, our fingerprints, our voice, and our genetic makeup are matched by no one else. God’s greatness is seen in us. God has handcrafted you with your personality, your distinctive set of talents and motivations, all leads to our second fact…
  • You have a distinctive purpose. Not only has God made us. He has designed us for His special reasons. He has crafted us to carry out a distinctive purpose and mission in life—what the New Testament calls your “good works.” (Ephesians 2:10). For that reason, the ultimate meaning in life comes from discovering and carrying out this unique purpose. That’s what leads us to our third point…
  • You have a distinctive responsibility to your Creator. God created you both to live with Him and to live for Him. Ultimately, you belong to Him (Romans 14:7) –Therefore, your life needs to centre on Him. So another reason you can have no fear is when you remember His greatness.

Now, why not use one of the ways of praise and spend some time reflecting on His greatness? Remember He can do more than you think. Remember the verse:

Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known.

Jeremiah 33:3

If you have time listen to Chris Tomlin’s song Indescribable:

Stay safe and Blessed.
