When they saw the star, they were filled with joy! They entered the house and saw the child with his mother, Mary, and they bowed down and worshipped him. Then they opened their treasure chests and gave him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.
Matthew 2:10-11
Many people are interested in their ancestors and often find out amazing things as they do their research. In some cases, it actually changes their lives.
For the wise men, a journey that started by looking up into the sky would eventually have an impact on them that would change their lives. As the wise men looked up they realised research was necessary and so began the entire journey by following a star.
As they looked up at that tiny little light in the sky they never dreamed it would eventually lead them to a little baby who would grow up and die to save the whole human race. Their research unknowingly has made them become part of this wonderful Christmas story.
I believe it can be true for you too. Putting your faith and trust in Jesus makes you part of the story for as I have said it is the reason Jesus was born.
Once they had lifted up their eyes and seen the star, they were willing to follow it wherever it led them. They were willing to leave behind their familiar surroundings, and travel to a distant land, willing to go beyond in search of one who was born king of the Jews. And so they went on their journey, taking weeks, months, perhaps even a year or more to reach a destination that was still unknown.
Following Jesus is a lifetime commitment. I am sure you have seen the advert a dog is not just for Christmas. Well, the same goes for Jesus. The wise men having encountered Jesus went away with joy in their hearts. They must have said to themselves this journey was well worth taking and I believe you will say that too at the end of this life’s journey as it propels you into the next one which never ends.
When the wise men saw the baby Jesus they knew straight away this was a special baby and they worshipped Him. It is why followers of Jesus believe so much in worshipping Jesus because we know how special Jesus is and what He has done for us now and in the future.
Your ancestry, by the way, goes all the way back to Adam and we have inherited his DNA which needs to be changed. Hence God’s plan to bring Jesus to planet earth on that first Christmas morn. It is indeed true what the angels said “I bring you good news”
Stay Safe and Blessed
