Jesus Christ the same yesterday, today and forever.  Hebrews 13:8

I can remember standing in Reading town centre on a sunny morning with my church family as we were doing an outreach (telling people the good news of Jesus) when my Pastor asked me to say a few words on the spot.

I can remember looking up at the sky for inspiration, and suddenly a lamppost caught my eye. On that lamp post there were pointers with information for those who were lost, pointing them to different places in the town centre. That gave me the inspiration to tell people about how in life we have choices to make at times.

I am sure we have all had to make major decisions in our lives. For some they may have had more than one choice to make and for some the decisions may have had major ramifications. For many though they are not sure what to do or where to turn, in fact they have come to the crossroads.

Thousands of years ago there were some people at the crossroads of their lives, and so God inspired someone to write a letter to these people to encourage them. The letter is known as Hebrews and no one knows for sure who wrote it.

The late Dr. Walter Martin, founder of the Christian Research Institute and writer of the best-selling book Kingdom of the Cults, quipped in his usual tongue-in-cheek manner that the Book of Hebrews was written by a Hebrew to other Hebrews telling the Hebrews to stop acting like Hebrews.

I know you are now confused .com by that statement.  What he meant though was many of the early Jewish believers were at the crossroads of their own personal faith.

Some had begun to slip back into the rites and rituals of Judaism in order to escape the mounting persecution.

They were also being pressurised to return to the Mosaic Law with its regulations and sacrifices.

The Jewish nation was facing a serious crisis in rebelling against Rome which eventually would lead to the massacre that took place in AD 70.

This was a crossroads indeed. Which way do they turn?

Throughout this lockdown many have been questioning life and the whole aspect of spirituality. Many are like those first generation of followers of Jesus at a crossroads with all that is happening in the world around them.

This letter is summed up by the statement Jesus Christ the same yesterday, today and forever. Hebrews 13:8

I take comfort in this verse whatever crossroads I face. There are in these different times now changes and challenges ahead. As time moves on we have to adapt and move along with it. Therefore, at present we are constantly changing Jesus does not. But, we may change, though circumstances may change, Jesus does not. He is always there for us, always dependable, always concerned for us.

Please take heart and encouragement if you are at a crossroad and do not know which way to turn I truly believe if you seek and ask God He will show you the way.

Stay safe and Blessed
