This week, there’s been questions asked (mainly by some of our European ‘friends’) over the safety of the AstraZeneca vaccine. In spite of assurances from the World Health Organisation and the European Medicines Agency, it seems that a seed of doubt has been sown in the minds of some, and as a result, they are reluctant to be vaccinated.

I don’t know about you, but when someone questions me about something I may have said or agreed to do, I begin to doubt if I had got it right in the first place; or maybe it’s just a sign of getting old!!!

The enemy is an expert in making us doubt! In the Garden of Eden, he sowed a seed of doubt in Adam and Eve’s minds, by subtly asking, ‘is that what God said?’ He didn’t say, ‘You can’t eat of the fruit’ etc….. he appears to question if they had heard God correctly in the first place!

Sometimes, when things become overwhelming, it’s easy to start doubting. We doubt that God is able to help in this particular situation, we doubt His word and His promises. We doubt that He really cares about me and my situation when the world is full of other people’s and nation’s needs.

People often quote ‘Doubting Thomas’ as a reason, even as an excuse for doubting. Yes, Thomas did doubt, until he saw for himself Jesus‘ wounds and spoke with Him. Then he stopped doubting and started believing.

Do you need to start believing again today? Do you need to stop listening to the enemy’s lies that you are not important and/or that God is not interested or able? This is what the Apostle Paul has to say:

God is able, through His mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think

Ephesians 3:20

And:

I know the one in whom I trust, and am sure that He is able to guard what I have entrusted to him until the day of his return

2 Timothy 1:12

‘He’ is the God who spoke, who breathed and who brought all things into being and provided for all that He made. He never leaves us, He never lets us down, He never says ‘You’re on your own with this one!’ He is always with us, always strengthening, guiding, providing wisdom and a way. He taught and showed us amazing things to believe about Himself, and about ourselves too as His children.

We are His precious children bought at a price, equipped for His purposes and kept for all eternity. So, maybe it’s time again to rise up, trample upon and silence the doubts and the lies, and keep believing and trusting in Him ‘who is able’!

Be encouraged.
