He said this in regard to the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were about to receive.

John 7:39

The context of this verse is the debate going on in Jerusalem as to who Jesus was. It was coupled with a feast to remember God’s provision to the nation of Israel during their 40 years stay in the desert.

The religious leader on the last day would go to the pool of Siloam with a large pitcher (jug to carry water), fill the pitcher up and walk back to the temple and pour some water then wine out as a symbol of thanking God for His provision. They would then sing from the book of Psalms.

Jesus interrupts this ceremony by shouting that Jesus himself could provide provision that would satisfy and keep us. by Jesus death and resurrection, then by giving us the Power i.e. the Holy Spirit.

Everyone who believes and accepts Jesus automatically receives POWER. (Holy Spirit). You and I can live through these different times because of this power inside us, and not only that. When we draw from this power we can give hope to others and help them.

The potential of your power is determined by the strength of your power source. You may be weak, but you are not powerless for as I say: “You have the strength of Christ.” So more than ever in these different times, it is time to plug into the mighty power of the Holy Spirit who dwells in you!

The Holy Spirit is now involved in our daily experiences and is always helping us whether we realise it or not! God’s life-giving presence and power lives in us.

The Holy Trinity, which is God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit as three beings in one person, has beautifully, powerfully, and lovingly made us in His image to know and love Him intimately.

So why not today, spend some time in prayer thanking the Father for His awesome power?
