“We are labourers together with God: ye are God’s husbandry, ye are God’s building.” 1 Corinthians 3:9

Yesterday we talked about being special and I love this quote

“Christians, like snowflakes, are frail, but when they stick together they can stop traffic.” –

-Vance Havner

That is what Christ had in mind for His church. We remember that we are frail on our own but together a different story.

The early church were committed to be with one another. I think sadly with all that life has to offer today it is reflected in the lack of coming together as the early church had.

To be part of the body of Christ there is an expectation. As we read 1 Corinthians 3:9 it reminds us that  “we are labourers together with God: ye are God’s husbandry, ye are God’s building.”

The Bible does say that we ought to work together as Christians, in unity. But that is not what this verse says. It says that we are to work together as co-workers with God.

Could we ask for a better co-worker than God (The Special one) ? In the preceding verses, Paul laid out the responsibilities of each of us, and of God. We are to “plant” and “water” or preach and teach. God uses our preaching and teaching to convert people to Himself. It’s like we have a wonderful relationship with God working alongside Him; we are in essence paving the way for Him to do His work. At the same time, if we don’t tell others about Jesus, we hinder God doing His work.

Burdens are Lighter when Everyone Works Together.

One of the amazing accomplishments that occurs in the book of Nehemiah is the fact that it only took the people 52 days to rebuild the wall around Jerusalem (Nehemiah 6:15). Now granted there were still lots of things to be done after this but what an amazing feat that was able to be done.

This was accomplished because everyone was working together. This is most clearly seen in the church environment when so much of the work that the church does relies upon everyone doing their part. Take, for example, a very common event at a church, Sunday school.

The way in which these events happen occurs through the church working together and everyone doing their part to make our meetings successful The burden is lightened by all those that help.

Here’s something for us to ponder seriously. Study after study shows that about 80% of the work done in a church is done by only about 20% of the people in the church.

What % am I in?

Remember you are special and belong to a special family created by the special one who calls us to be together.

Stay safe and Blessed
