Have you ever found yourself with the jigsaw puzzle blues; that feeling when you near the completion of a jigsaw and find that you are missing a piece?
And this is the will of him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all those he has given me, but raise them up at the last day.John 6:39
I remember once, to raise money for a charity, we had a 1000 piece jigsaw for which we asked people to buy a piece and fit it into the jigsaw. The jigsaw was framed and if I am right it is still hanging on the wall. It was great to come in each week and see how many pieces of the jigsaw had been fitted. But what was our biggest problem? It was to ensure no piece got lost – that, of course, would’ve been a disaster and certainly a case for the jigsaw puzzle blues!
Today, as we struggle through these different times the same, is true for our church family. We are all jigsaw pieces put together by committing our lives to follow Jesus. We are part of the jigsaw puzzle of Erdington Elim Church. As the pastor, I am concerned that I do not lose a piece (a member) and as hard as I try I know the inevitable will happen. I do thank God for internet, Zoom, texts and messaging etc. which hopefully will stop me feeling too blue.
I have to remind myself at times of the bigger picture and especially the verse above. Jesus was very confident when He said: “And this is the will of him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all those he has given me, but raise them up at the last day.”
The jigsaw will always be complete because He knows, loves and cares for each piece. In fact, thousands of years before Jesus ever came to earth King David said no matter where he went God was there. Read Psalm 139:7-12.
I hope it fills you with confidence today that no matter what your situation if you belong to Jesus He knows exactly where you are, what you need and will never lose sight of you.
Unlike me who has experienced many losses of jigsaw puzzle pieces, Jesus has a 100% record. He reminds us “I shall lose none of all those he has given me”.
Keep safe and Blessed
